Residential Energy Calculations

Residential energy calculations are required for any new construction, addition, or alteration project by Florida Building Code. These calculations provide proof that the house is energy efficient. There are multiple methods to prove compliance. 

The prescriptive method (R402-2020) is used to demonstrate that various aspects of construction are more efficient than those set forth by the energy code. This method is used often when construction includes a large amount of windows. 

The performance method (R405-2020) utilizes Energy Gauge USA to simulate the energy consumption and performance of the house in comparison to a value set forth by the Florida Building Code.
